H.E.R. is making a statement with her 2022 Grammys ensemble.

The 24-year-old R&B artist is known for using grand sartorial moments to pay homage to her idols. Back in 2021, she made her Oscars red carpet debut in a cobalt blue beaded hooded Dundas ensemble in honor of the late icon, Prince. At the time, H.E.R. was nominated and won best original song for “Fight for You” from Judas and the Black Messiah.

Tonight, H.E.R. is nominated for eight Grammy Awards including album of the year for Back of My Mind and song of the year for “Fight for You.” She has already won the 2022 Grammy for best traditional R&B performance, making her a four-time Grammy award winner (so far).

So, who better for H.E.R. to honor than Aretha Franklin, who took home 18 Grammys during her own illustrious career. H.E.R hit the carpet in a yellow and orange jumpsuit with sequins embellishments and a pair of her signature sunglasses, of course!

The look was reminiscent of a similar ensemble worn by Franklin at the American Music Awards in 1976, where she won best female soul/R&B artist. “I was actually inspired by Aretha Franklin tonight,” H.E.R. told Laverne Cox on the red carpet, per Today. “It was one of her iconic looks, and she’s an icon.”
