After Midsommar costars Florence Pugh and Will Poulter were photographed looking cozy in Ibiza, the Black Widow actor took to Instagram to shut down relationship rumors, calling the whole thing an example of toxic social media “bullying” gone too far.

According to the Little Women star, the pair were simply enjoying the beach with mutual friends while celebrating designer Harris Reed’s birthday. What was supposed to be a fun, chill weekend with Pugh’s closest mates spun out of control into a paparazzi-fueled rumor frenzy. “We went to the beach with our friends, who are always about half a metre away from us in every picture, but have been cleverly cut out/framed out so that it looks otherwise,” the actor wrote in a series of Instagram Stories on May 24. “Thanks for saying we look sexy doesn’t mean we’re doing the sexy.”

The 26-year-old, who has been dating 47-year-old actor Zach Braff since 2018, continued by posting paparazzi photos of her group of friends during their “no drama holiday,” circling her “mates” and pointing out how allegedly edited and cropped photos created an illusion that she and Poulter were enjoying a romantic getaway. While Pugh acknowledges that her status as a public figure lends itself to a certain lack of privacy, she says that these types of “fabricated” photos cause “more damage than good.”

Pugh also alluded to rumors that these photos were proof she is no longer dating Braff. “There’s no need to drag people through this,” she wrote in Instagram Story posts, adding, “Regardless of your opinion on who I should or shouldn’t be with, at the end of the day, if you’re complimenting someone by trolling another person…you’re just bullying.”
