Much like last year, Gemma Chan makes up part of the last set of L’Oreal ambassadors to grace the Cannes Film Festival, while attending the premiere of ‘Mother And Son (Un Petit Frere)’ on Saturday (May 27) in France.

Here are a bunch of words I never thought I would ever type.

When it comes to Gemma Chan in this Louis Vuitton strapless tulle gown, I’m totally underwhelmed.

That was painful to type because I have always been a huge admirer of her style.

The British actress has set her own standard. My issue with this dress is that it has been done to death and is way too generic for her.

I would not batted an eyelid had this been worn by one of the models, because it is expected. Their Herve Leger era became the sheer dress and cut-out dress era.

We’ve seen Gemma’s promo tours.  We know she can do so much better than this gown.

Gemma Chan Wore Louis Vuitton To The 'Mother And Son' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

The styling with the on-trend sheer opera gloves…and the hair?

It’s a resounding no all around for me.

Her gold Oscar de la Renta dress – which was your favourite from the entire festival last year – runs rings around this look.

I’m beyond disappointed.  But that has pretty much been the theme of this festival.

Roll on Venice.
