Gigi Hadid can now add “brand founder” to her running list of accomplishments. On Thursday, Aug. 4, the supermodel offered a sneak peek at her newest venture, Guest in Residence, on Instagram. Sharing the behind-the-scenes process of creating her knitwear line, she posted a gallery of images showing the brand’s logo, clothing tags, color swatches, and piles of sweaters, in addition to her wearing what looked to be very soft knits. One photo revealed some fabrics to be 100 percent cashmere.

Hadid was also seen working alongside stylist and fashion editor Gabrielle Karefa-Johnson; CJ Kim, a sweater and knitwear designer who’s worked with Theory, The Row, and Helmut Lang; and fashion publicist Kevin McIntosh Jr. “been workin on something . . . with love, @guestinresidence 💛🧵 :),” she captioned the post. While a launch date and further information have yet to be revealed, the Guest in Residence Instagram account and website are up and running. “Coming soon,” the site currently reads.

Though Hadid is now officially introducing the label, she mentioned her desire to start her own brand last summer. In an interview with i-D in June 2021, she shared she was working on design ideas for her own brand, after having had “all [her] dreams come true in fashion.” “I’m narrowing that down to a niche that I think would be cool to bring into the world with my name attached to it,” she said at the time. The model recently collaborated with longtime friend and Frankies Bikinis founder Francesca Aiello for an Americana-inspired swimwear collection. Now, it seems Hadid’s dream is finally coming to life. See her subtle announcement ahead, and keep an eye on this space for updates on the launch.
