We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again — we just can’t resist an awards ceremony. There’s something about the gorgeous gowns, dapper suits, and star-studded roster that just gets us going. But last night’s ceremony, the GRAMMYs, is just the crème-de-la-crème. The music industry’s biggest players were all in attendance and style-wise they rose to the occasion. From Harry Styles’ scintillating Swarovski ensemble, and Lizzo’s floral dream, to Bad Bunny’s backwards cap — we’ve covered it all.

Head below to see our favourite picks, right now…

Distressed but well dressed

First up is darling Doja Cat, who looked like a vision in KNWLS. The eponymous brand of designer Charlotte Knowles has graced pretty much every single cool girl to ever exist. In no small part due to its unique pieces that toe the line between femininity and rigour; softness and hardness. This look completely encapsulates this ethos, with distressed leather building the foundation for an ultra-feminine silhouette. The dress, comprised of a corset, and mermaid-esque skirt, allows for some skin to poke through with laced sides. Embellished all over with dark silver hardware, this look goes hand in hand with the edgier side of life Doja Cat seems to be embracing.

A Saint in Laurent

Our resident cool boy, Steve Lacy, showed up and showed OUT last night. In full Saint Laurent, Lacy played with the idea of formalwear by donning an entirely leather suit. His tie and wide-leg trousers are all constructed from this material – while the shirt features an embossed ‘S’. Patent leather heels poke out of his bottoms, adding that feminine flair. The cherry on top are Lacy’s insane sunglasses. In a shield shape, they also make room for the artist’s nose – all in all making for a look that is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest.

Frills for days

The Brazilian singer Anitta made history last night, being the first artist from her country to be nominated for Best New Artist – but she also caused some pretty big waves with her gown. A vintage Versace number, the artist looked like a dream. The sweetheart-neckline bodice is cut out with the most gorgeous lace. Flaring out into a dramatic train, this is where things get serious. Made up of frilly ruffles, and adorned with satin bows – this skirt really brings the look over the edge. Although Anitta may not have won Best New Artist, this look is a victory all the same.

No cap

If subversive suits are on the agenda, then Bad Bunny’s unconventional addition to his look simply must be shared. Amidst a pretty standard award show ensemble, we tip our hats to the singer’s incorporation of a backwards cap; it infuses the seriousness of formalwear with some much-needed playfulness. These hats seem to be Bad Bunny’s thing, whether he’s lounging around – or out and about. We’re chuffed to see that even the Grammys won’t make him switch it up, and even if you’re not convinced – it sure has people talking.

A queen in McQueen

Next on the list is the Jamaican artist Koffee whose artistic chops put her up for Best Reggae Album. She opted for a full Alexander McQueen ensemble, plucked straight from the label’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Consisting of a subversive suit, made from black wool twill, the fit is a little edgier than many of the classic suits we might’ve seen last night. The long jacket reveals an asymmetrical waistcoat, fit with harsh edges, and super wide-legged, high-waisted trousers. The icing on the cake is the intricate embroidery in the shape of shooting stars that graces the inside of the ensemble. Seems very fitting!

Lizzo’s Floral Affair

Dressed to impress last night was Miss Lizzo. With a knack for crafting up tunes as amazing as her looks, she certainly turned it out. Opting for a full Dolce and Gabbana look – Lizzo was a floral dream. The singer wore the most dramatic burnt orange cape, adorned with a flurry of flower appliques – worn over her head. Underneath, Lizzo donned a pinstriped, more vibrant orange corset, along with a floor-length, slinky skirt. She looked as captivating as a bed of flowers, and this look is honestly living in our heads rent-free. We see you, Lizzo!

Swarovski slay

Last, but not at all least, is the man of the hour — Harry Styles. Famed and revered for turning out unconventional fashion looks, Styles upped the ante this time around. At the Grammys no less, the pop sensation dazzled in a Swarovski-adorned, multi-coloured jumpsuit. In a chequered diamond pattern, square straps and flowy bell bottoms add some serious drama. The low neckline lets us gander at Styles’ tattoos, and we’re not mad about it! This look is out there, and eccentric – and we have to admit, although he came to snap up a bunch of prizes – he looked like one himself.
