Swifties remain calm. Taylor Swift and her (probable) new boyfriend Matty Healy were seen leaving a recording studio in New York City together, which may or may not mean that a new collaboration is forthcoming.
Photos show Swift and Healy leaving New York City’s iconic Electric Lady Studios together in the early hours of May 16. Both musicians dressed casually, Swift in a purple NYU sweatshirt and black miniskirt and Healy in a simple black top and pants. Could the pair be mixing a little business with pleasure? Were they in the studio working on new music together?
It’s not like it would be a huge stretch. In 2022, in fact, Healy confirmed that his band The 1975 actually had collaborated with Swift on a track for her Midnights album, but the song didn’t make the final cut. “We actually worked a bit on that but then the version of it never came out,” Healy told KROQ’s Klein/Ally Show for Audacy’s DTS Sound Space. “It was for reasons that are not to be criticized. She’s amazing,” he added. It’s also worthy of note that both Swift and Healy share a friend and producing partner in Jack Antonoff, who worked closely with Swift on Midnights and with The 1975 on Being Funny In a Foreign Language.
Now that Swift and Healy are dating—or at least going on several dates in New York City—what could be more natural than for them to collaborate on new music together? Maybe this is just my conspiracy-theory brain at work, but Taylor Swift has never been afraid to bring her personal life into her work.
