The dog James Kennedy once owned alongside his ex-fiancée Raquel Leviss is now going by a new name. Kennedy announced the news over the weekend on Instagram (how very Kylie Jenner of him), revealing that the dog formerly known as Graham Cracker is now Hippie.
If you’ve missed the dog drama that Scandoval stirred, here’s a quick TL;DR: After the Vanderpump Rules stars ended their engagement in 2021, Leviss got full custody of their shared dog. But while Leviss was in a mental health facility following Scandoval this summer, Graham went under the care of her parents, who then dropped the dog off at a shelter after an alleged biting incident. After Kennedy learned of Graham’s housing situation, he decided to take full custody.
Kennedy and the dog f.k.a. Graham marked this new phase of their relationship with a fresh new name. But this isn’t some arbitrary dog name he came up with using a name generator—the story behind Hippie’s name is actually really sweet. On his Instagram, Kennedy explained, “We’ve decided to rename this little beauty ‘hippie’ this is a tribute to my late godfather, Geroge Michael’s dog’s name… the only dog I saw around the house growing up, although George and hippie are in heaven now together I know that they are watching over me now, a proud doggy papa!” He added a dog emoji and heart emoji.
Last week, James Kennedy dropped the news of his ownership of Graham via Instagram. “Look who made his way back home, back into my life,” he wrote. “I’ll take care of you forever and I love you. ❤️ ” The post included photos taken on a Vanderpump Rules cast trip to Lake Tahoe while filming season 11.
