Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati took home the Women’s Ballon d’Or for the first time at the 2023 Ballon d’Or Ceremony held at Theatre Du Chatelet on Monday (October 30) in Paris, following a hugely successful year which saw her club triumph in the Spanish league and Champions League, and her country win the World Cup in the summer.
This accolade comes after Aitana was crowned UEFA’S player of the year in August.
We’re accustomed to seeing sports stars in sportswear – even off duty – so it was nice to see Aitana serve up glamour in this Versace Medusa ’95 maxi dress from the Fall 2023 collection.
Even though this dress never walked the runway, it features the bodice adorned with a Medusa buckle inspired by the archives which was prevalent on other pieces and remains a bold motif of the Italian house, and a rich piece of design heritage.
We’ve seen this dress on Dakota Johnson, but Aitana added a touch more glam to her look with the sheer embellished long sleeve top.
