Fendi’s new limited edition book celebrates 15 years of the sophisticated, playful, and iconic Peekaboo bag.
It is no small feat to design a bag that will remain culturally relevant year after year, decade after decade, but Fendi makes it look easy. Since its creation in 2008, the Peekaboo bag has seen a multitude of interpretations, with explorations of shape, scale, and materiality refreshing its timeless design from season to season. As the design house celebrates the 15 year anniversary of their timeless yet playful piece, their new book explores the essence of the Peekaboo and what makes it the iconic staple it is.
Taking its name from the classic children’s game of “peek-a-boo”, it was built on the premise of inner luxury, saving all of the detailing for the inside. “Simplicity is the real eccentricity,” Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear at FENDI, explains. “At that time, I was looking for a contemporary, traditional, and modern form that would satisfy the most sophisticated women. Today like once: simplicity is built on the concept of whispered luxury, similar to the singular contrast between rich materials on the inside and essential materials on the outside. The one occasion when a woman would be advised to walk around with an unfastened, open bag.”
Peekaboo-K features four chapters: Revising Textures, Canvas, Eclectic Instinct, and FENDI Graphia. Celebrating what the Peekaboo represents for FENDI, the book highlights its sophistication, joyful wit, and profound craftsmanship.
Peekaboo-K is available on fendi.com and in select FENDI boutiques worldwide.
