The Gotham Global Icon and Creator Tribute Award celebrated the ‘Barbie’ cast and filmmakers held at The Peninsula Hotel on Thursday (November 28) in New York, with Dua Lipa and Margot Robbie in attendance.
This event was a fairly relaxed affair, but you wouldn’t know that from looking at Dua Lipa’s strapless Tom Ford fringed side slit gown.
The gown is giving Grammys, Billboard Awards, Brit Awards; not a private event celebrating a billion-dollar movie at a hotel in New York.
I’m never one to say someone is overdressed, as my motto is “better to be overdressed than underdressed,” but she was kinda overdressed.
However, I’m willing to give Dua the benefit of the doubt, as she probably had another event after this, where the gown would have made more sense.
A Tom Ford vintage gold croc cuff, and a black Tom Ford Nobile clutch completed her look.
Margot Robbie was back to giving us Barbiecore in Versace.
Her custom Versace dress, in the most charming shade of pink, feels inspired by the Fall 2023 collection if you take the folded structural bust detail and rounded shoulders into account.
I love how the hourglass silhouette is reinforced with the interior corset structure and exaggerated hips.
Crystal Versace Pin slingback pink pumps completed her look, along with Anita Ko jewels.
Margot added a mini Versace La Medusa embellished bag as she left the venue.
