If you’ve been listening to Cowboy Carter on repeat since it dropped last week like we have, then right now you’re probably thinking two things:

  1. Is “Bodyguard” the song of the summer?!
  2. I want to dress like I’m starring in a spaghetti western, too!

On the first, we’d say: Mmm, it’s only April, so it may be too soon to say (but all signs point to yes), and on the latter? Well, we can help with that.

Because embracing the cowboy aesthetic in 2024 doesn’t mean you need to go full rodeo. With the glaring exception of Ms. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, not everyone can pull off chaps and a cowboy hat in a business casual setting.

Instead, just choose one item — probably not chaps — and keep the rest of your outfit more “city” than “slicker.”

Men’s western style outfit inspiration

Team SG got out our lasso and rounded up men’s western style pieces to add to your wardrobe right now. No, you don’t have to know how to ride a horse or have Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton on speed dial to wear them.

So long as you don’t go overboard, you can pull off cowboy style without looking like you’re in costume.

Check out 7 #SGapproved men’s western style items:

1. western-style belt

SG Says: Add a belt with western detail to any outfit to immediately increase your yee-haw factor.

SG Says: It’s giving Yellowstone. Wear this snap-front shirt closed or open over your favorite tee or thin sweater.

3. cowboy-cut jeans

SG Says: Slip into Buck Mason’s “Cowboy” fit jeans, with a slightly higher rise and a tailored fit through the thigh and leg.

Inspired by vintage shrink-to-fit jeans, the selvedge denim offers up an organic texture that develops more dude ranch character with every wear for a lived-in feel.

4. western-style denim shirt

SG Says: Don’t overthink it when it comes to a denim shirt with western detailing. Wear this like you would your favorite chambray or casual button-down.

5. A colorful bandana

SG Says: What kind of cowboy would you be without a bandana? You can stick one in your back pocket as an accent, or roll it and tie around your neck for a cool cowpoke vibe.

6. workwear jacket
