Tight end, podcaster, spokesguy…host? Travis Kelce, fast approaching his first anniversary with Taylor Swift, has a new gig lined up. Guess even an NFL player has to have a side hustle these days.
Kelce, who previously hosted a well-received episode of Saturday Night Live and once starred on his own reality dating show, has just been named the host of Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” said Kelce in a statement to Extra. “The original show [Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?] is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
The show will once again allow everyday adults to win money by answering elementary-school-level questions, but rather than receiving assistance from children, they’ll have celebs to help them. Before you judge, consider that we are on season three of Is It Cake?
Travis Kelce’s comment about being on “the hosting side of the equation” is probably a subtle, good-natured nod to his own reputation as a not particularly studious guy. In October 2023, he joked on his podcast that he doesn’t know what books are and “can’t read.” His himbo persona was solidified in November 2023, when his old tweets resurfaced to reveal that even in college, he couldn’t spell words like “chipotle” or “squirrel.”
So, Amazon, where do I apply to go on the show? Because, and this is said in all humility, I’m def smarter than a celebrity. Prob.
