No one does maximalism like Blake Lively does maximalism. The queen of the phrase “more is more” took her over-the-top ethos to Italy for a little Capri vacation (or perhaps she’s filming more of A Simple Favor 2?), and like any good tourist, she made a point to support the local businesses…by buying up all of their sweaters and vintage wares.
The actor shared a few snaps of her outfits on her Instagram Story on Sunday, June 30, giving followers a rare, close-up look at her styling choices. Lively, who famously does not work with a stylist, even dropped her outfit credits, like the influencer we all knew she could be.
First up, Lively shared the first of three pattern clashing ‘fits: The Gossip Girl alum wore a plaid, goldenrod jacket over a white, Breton stripe top with floral embellishments, low-rise “destroyed” denim in a super-baggy fit from Magnolia Pearl, and leopard print Louboutin loafers with a white leather fringe. She finished the look with a tweed Chanel bag and chunky chain jewelry.
“Get after those patterns, girl,” she wrote over the snap; she added in the second pic, “My Capri fashion got real specific and fab.” Lively also tagged the Shop Rare Archives Instagram account and Gucci.
The second look of the bunch draws on the same foundation (the yellow jacket and blue jeans) but adds even more patterns with the addition of a chartreuse and cream cardigan layered over a brown sweater with a fuchsia flower embroidered across the chest. Both additional sweaters—which I would not recommend wearing at one time in the scorching Italian summer heat—appear to be from Farella Capri, which Lively tagged in the shot, praising their “spectacular handmade sweaters.”
Lively appeared to be in a dressing room when she snapped the candid mirror pic, and added a pair of straight-leg jeans, which she cuffed at the hem, and a granny square crochet handbag from Fiore Designs, which gave her “major moody face.”
If she was in a fitting room, it appears she made a few purchases. In the following snap Lively layers even more patterns, including the chartreuse cardigan over a matching sweater, and a striped scarf in a complementary pale pink and goldenrod stripes. The star of the final look, however, is the vintage lion pendant necklace, which she notes is from La Perla Cultivada.
Her recap of her getaway also included a selfie with Paul Feig, director of the Simple Favor films, whom Blake Lively thanked for introducing her to Capri. So perhaps this was a work trip after all? Ugh, to be a style icon with a credit card on an expenses-paid work trip!
