SATURDAY 9:24 AM SEPTEMBER 28, 2024 PARIS
On an early Saturday morning in Paris, Hermès SS25 went back to where it all began: the atelier. The French luxury house narrowed in on buttery neutrals, clean glam, and a dash of ’80s in the accessories. After the show, our editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg ran into hardcore Hermès-worshipping sisters Snehal and Jyoti Babani, and the brains behind show, creative director Nadège Vanhee.

NADÈGE VANHEE
OTTENBERG: Why are ’80s earrings back? Yours are so great.
NADÈGE VANHEE-CYBULSKI: The ’80s are everywhere. Did you see it over there?
OTTENBERG: Yes, the hair. The girl with the triangle earrings. I really like that model. Were you looking at the 80’s or were you just feeling the ’80s?
VANHEE-CYBULSKI: Well, I grew up in the ’80s. I’m an ’80s kid so that’s just my DNA.
OTTENBERG: Who’s the dream woman in this show?
VANHEE-CYBULSKI: I never think like that. The dream woman is really blending mens and womens, you know?
OTTENBERG: I’m really into khakis these days. Are you into khakis?
SARA MOONVES: Mel, you’re just taking up so much time.
OTTENBERG: I’ve been 30 seconds! She’s being so mean. Sara Moonves, W Magazine everyone.
MOONVES: [Laughs]
OTTENBERG: Ok, I gotta go. See you later Nadège.

SNEHAL & JYOTI BABANI
OTTENBERG: Hey Ladies.
SNEHAL & JYOTI BABANI: Hi!
OTTENBERG: Where are we at?
SNEHAL BABANI: At Hermès SS25.
OTTENBERG: Can I see the bag?
JYOTI BABANI: Of course.
OTTENBERG: What is this bag?
JYOTI BABANI: The theme is Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough–
SNEHAL BABANI: So it’s all three sizes of the bag.
OTTENBERG: Wow.
SNEHAL BABANI: It’s a Kelly, and a mini Kelly and a micro Kelly.
OTTENBERG: Hermès worship. You guys told me recently that it’s all about Hermès for you now.
SNEHAL BABANI: Yes.
JYOTI BABANI: Hermès and we can never cheat on Chanel.
SNEHAL BABANI: It’s the husband and the boyfriend. We love them equally.
OTTENBERG: Is Hermès the husband?
SNEHAL BABANI: Yeah.
OTTENBERG: Ok fab. The necklaces are on point.
SNEHAL & JYOTI BABANI: Thank you!
OTTENBERG: And you guys are not twins right?
SNEHAL & JYOTI BABANI: No, we’re sisters.
OTTENBERG: Let me see the shoes.
SNEHAL BABANI: They’re also Hermès.
OTTENBERG: Ladies, ladies, ladies. Why Hermès?
JYOTI BABANI: Why Hermès? Because why not?
OTTENBERG: What were you most into from the show today?
SNEHAL BABANI: I think it’s so timeless, like when you buy a piece of Hermès ready to wear, you can wear it today and after 10 years, it’s still on trend. That’s what’s beautiful about it.
JYOTI BABANI: My favorite piece was the inside-out Birkin. Did you see it?
OTTENBERG: Oh, no.
JYOTI BABANI: I thought that was so cool and so casual and so chic. I loved it.
OTTENBERG: Do you guys go shopping together at Hermès?
SNEHAL & JYOTI BABANI: Always.
OTTENBERG: Which is the best Hermès store.
SNEHAL BABANI: All of them.
JYOTI BABANI: You can’t choose.
OTTENBERG: Where did you guys get these bags? Which boutique?
JYOTI BABANI: We were just discussing this. Each bag is from a different boutique. You can’t choose between your children, can you?
OTTENBERG: No, no, no. You can’t. And not today, you don’t have to.
SNEHAL BABANI: I’m not getting into trouble there.
OTTENBERG: And did you have a favorite color from the show?
SNEHAL BABANI: I love the natural tan.
JYOTI BABANI: It was like a butter leather.
OTTENBERG: I would love to see you guys in full khaki neutrals, because I think you’d just maximalize it.
JYOTI BABANI: We’re doing that tomorrow for the showroom. We’re in absolute neutrals.
OTTENBERG: Ok, fab. Any last thoughts about the power of Hermès?
JYOTI BABANI: The power of Hermès is Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.
OTTENBERG: I wanna see you guys in the 80’s earrings. I think you guys would look great in them, check them out in the showroom.
SNEHAL BABANI: Of course, tomorrow.
OTTENBERG: I believe in it. Let’s take a cute picture.
