It was a monumental night for Lisa, member of the K-pop supergroup Blackpink, at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. Not only did she light up the stage with performances of her solo hits ‘New Woman’ and ‘Rockstar,’ but she also took home the Best K-Pop VMA for the latter. But beyond her musical triumph, her fashion choices were equally captivating.
Lisa served up the second hooded look of the evening, wearing a custom Mugler corset gown from the Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The house is renowned for its mastery of corsetry, and this gown designed by Casey Cadwallader was no exception, with its sleek, built-in gloves and precise structure accentuating her figure. But what really caught my attention was the way the rest of the gown flowed around her, softening the sharpness of the corset and adding an elegant, almost ethereal quality to the overall look.
There’s something undeniably captivating about the hooded trend, and despite early doubts, it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Judging by the positive response to Taylor Russell’s hooded Loewe gown at the Venice Film Festival, it’s clear that you’re not ready to see the back of this trend just yet.
Lisa’s look felt modern, mysterious, and perfectly in sync with the edgy, forward-thinking aesthetic that Mugler is known for.
Later in the evening, Lisa accepted her award in a completely different look—switching to a Louis Vuitton black tulle sheer dress layered over an embellished bodysuit. The sheer, glittering ensemble gave her a popstar presence that was both magical and commanding, adding another layer of playfulness to her already impressive night.
The evening was a clear victory for both her music and her sartorial choices.
