Coco Rocha Wore Gap Inc. To The 40th FGI Night Of Stars Fashion Awards Gala

At the 40th Fashion Group International Night of Stars Awards Gala in New York City, Coco Rocha delivered an unexpected fashion moment. Attending the event held at The Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, Coco embraced sustainable fashion by wearing a gown made from upcycled denim designed by Gap Inc., highlighting the brand’s commitment to reducing waste.

The innovative design, a creation by Gap’s Executive Vice President and Creative Director Zac Posen, along with the brand’s design team, was constructed entirely from repurposed Icon Denim Jackets. Posen’s vision was clear: to transform the utilitarian fabric of denim into something couture, specifically crafted for Coco’s dynamic presence on the red carpet. “I’ve collaborated with Coco for over two decades — she’s a couture lifer,” he noted. “I chose this for her because I loved the idea of taking something practical and turning it into couture, cut and shaped for all of Coco’s moves on the carpet.”

And if there’s anyone who knows how to work a red carpet, it’s Coco Rocha, renowned for her expressive poses and bold runway attitude. This partnership was a perfect fit, both literally and symbolically—denim for an icon, turned into a dress for an icon.

This isn’t Zac Posen’s first foray into upcycled couture. He made headlines with a similar approach earlier this year, designing a denim gown for Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s Met Gala debut. This latest creation for Coco feels like a continuation of that journey, reminding us that couture can come from the humblest fabrics when creativity and sustainability are at play.
