After an underwhelming maternity look that left many of us scratching our heads, Lashana Lynch has finally delivered the red carpet moment we’ve all been waiting for.
Stepping onto the red carpet for the London premiere of ‘The Day Of The Jackal’ at Queen Elizabeth Hall on Tuesday, the British actress showcased what is easily her best look of the year.
For the past two years, I’ve been pretty critical of Lashana’s fashion choices, largely because she deserves so much more than what’s been offered. But this time, in a custom Lurline creation, she proved that a real style moment was still possible.
The centerpiece of the look was a hand-moulded, hand-draped leather corset, an architectural piece that was perfectly sculpted for her. Some might argue that this should have been her New York pregnancy reveal outfit, but I’m glad she saved it for this premiere in her home town which demanded this level of grandeur.
The corset was balanced by a gathered wool bubble skirt with a dramatic train, a piece that played up the brand’s signature fusion of femininity and structure. The overall silhouette was both powerful and elegant, a testament to Lashana’s ability to own any space she occupies when given the tools too.
Now, about the elephant in the room—or rather, under the skirt. Yes, you saw it right: a shoe peeking out. I tried to ignore it, and I even hoped for pictures without that little detail. But alas, the shoe was there in every shot, and while it doesn’t ruin the look, some might find it to be a distraction from an otherwise flawless ensemble.
All in all, this Lurline moment was a much-needed win for Lashana, a major step up in a fashion journey that’s been waiting for a breakthrough.
