System Magazine co-founders Elizabeth von Guttman, Jonathan Wingfield and Thomas Lenthal said they had exited the fashion title with plans to launch a new editorial venture next year.
The bi-annual fashion book launched in 2013, and set itself apart with its deft art direction and insidery editorial line. Creative leaders including Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto and Nicolas Ghesquière have given rare interviews and posed for Juergen Teller for the magazine’s covers, anchoring its relevancy in the industry.
The magazine was acquired by Mike Obenson in 2020, and has since worked to ramp up its digital output as well as launching a large format beauty spin-off called System Beauty in 2022.
Obenson thanked System’s co-founders in a statement. “As all great stories must come to an end, our journey with the founders stops here. However, System will continue to grow, and in addition to the current strong team, new members will be announced soon,” Obenson said.
