The French American Film Festival opened with the premiere of Netflix’s ‘Emilia Pérez’ at the DGA Theater Complex in Los Angeles with leading ladies Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez. Both actresses delivered their takes on black eveningwear, leaning into elegant yet distinctively different styles.
Romantic Ruffles
Zoe Saldana, opting for Saint Laurent once again, wore an ensemble that brought a sense of effortless, boho-inspired romanticism. Her silk satin skirt, paired with a pleated blouse, felt inspired by the Saint Laurent Spring 2025 collection. The look was unmistakably refined while still evoking an understated elegance.

Understated Sophistication
Selena Gomez also opted for black but veered in a different direction with her Carolina Herrera dress from the Resort 2025 collection. With its asymmetric neckline and classic silhouette, the dress had an elegant formality to it, though it felt slightly conservative for the occasion. If the dress had been longer, it might have lessened this sense of formality, making the overall look feel more red-carpet ready. Styled with Bvlgari jewels and a pair of Christian Louboutin Hot Chick Sling pumps in black, Selena’s look struck a sophisticated, if somewhat restrained, note.
Both Zoe and Selena brought a graceful sense of style to the premiere, embodying the blend of both French and American influences that the festival celebrates.
