Ariana Grande was on double duty last night, attending the ‘Wicked’ premiere and then making a guest appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’.
After Cynthia Erivo graced Jimmy’s stage earlier this week, it was Ariana’s turn to share her excitement about playing Glinda in the upcoming film. She reflected on the full circle moment of playing the iconic role, explaining how she chose to use her full name in the credits as a tribute to her younger self. The reaction from fans all over the world, she said, has been overwhelming.
And yes, Ariana was wearing pink again. It almost seems like a requirement for part one of this press tour, as even Margot Robbie didn’t wear this much pink for ‘Barbie’. But Ariana appears to be happy having this as her signature colour.
When I think of Ariana’s red carpet style, the first label that always comes to mind is Giambattista Valli. So, it’s no surprise that she delivered a Giambattista Valli Spring 2017 Haute Couture moment on this tour. The light pink strapless silk chiffon gown with its ruffle trim and smocked bodice, was a perfect blend of softness and ultra femininity. It’s the kind of gown Ariana is known for, and it felt like a true ‘Ariana Grande’ look. Perhaps for the first time on this tour.
It’s a bit of a head-scratcher why she didn’t save this stunning piece for the premiere, as it felt more in line with the red carpet energy we expect from her. But nevertheless, she looked flawless. Custom pink Jimmy Choo Romy pumps completed the look, and once again, Ariana proved why pink will now forever be her colour.
