Nicolas Ghesquière dressed two ambassadors and a friend of the house in Louis Vuitton for the 2024 Governors Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles, offering three distinctly different interpretations of the brand.
Grace in Every Detail
Saoirse Ronan’s red carpet streak continues on an upward trajectory with another flawless custom Louis Vuitton gown. The pale blue silk crêpe dress, adorned with the same 3D organza embroidery we saw on Cynthia Erivo’s cape at the ‘Wicked’ LA premiere, was the epitome of understated elegance. The gown’s soft hue was perfectly matched to her skin tone, while the coordinating earrings and sandals tied the look together seamlessly.
After a season of clean lines and sleek silhouettes, this gown’s flair felt like a refreshing twist for Saoirse. It’s polished, it’s romantic, and it’s perfectly in tune with her red carpet evolution.

Subtle Drama
Renate Reinsve, usually our go-to girl for Louis Vuitton drama-filled moments, took a more understated route this time. Her custom blue silk crêpe gown was relatively simple by her standards, with the standout detail being the black leather crossover pocket belt—a subtle yet unmistakable Louis Vuitton signature.
While this look didn’t have the high-octane energy we associate with Renate, it still worked. The belt gave the gown a modern edge, proving that even a quieter look can carry weight with the right accessories.

Bubble skirt, But Make It Work
I know some of you are ready to retire the Louis Vuitton bubble skirt following their appearances at many events last month, but Jurnee Smollett just gave the silhouette a second wind in this red silk taffeta bustier gown. That’s mostly because this might be Jurnee’s best look in LV. Usually she selects looks that age her, but I’m not getting that feeling on this occasion.
