Ayo Edebiri is keeping us on our toes this awards season, delivering not one but two standout looks at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. For her appearance at the Opus premiere on Monday, the actress swapped edgy cool for her appearance at the Deadline event, for something entirely different: The Row’s Jan cashmere coat and sleeveless dress from the Fall 2024 collection.
Now, if you’re anything like me, your first thought was probably, “Wait, is this Angelina Jolie’s or Pamela Anderson’s winter wardrobe?” And let’s be honest—it does lean into that mature, luxe minimalist vibe that can occasionally read as aging.
But then, the more I looked at different photos, with each new angle, I began to see the beauty in this experiment. Winter dressing doesn’t have to mean puffer coats and thermal leggings; sometimes it’s about reimagining how cosy can look.
Let’s not forget the setting—it’s Park City, Utah, in January. If cashmere isn’t on the menu, what are we even doing here? Ayo wrapped herself in the cosy embrace of cashmere most of would want during these sub-zero months.
Underneath the oversized coat was a sleeveless matching dress, which gave us a whole new look.
Oh, and did I mention the coat has a single detachable right sleeve? A curious, quirky detail that feels a bit random.
A pair of brown pumps rounded out the ensemble, keeping things grounded in sophistication.
Sure, it’s not your typical premiere look, but it’s memorable, innovative, and delightfully warm. Ayo may have ditched the red carpet quirky style for a cashmere cocoon, but honestly? She’s winning winter fashion.
