This time last year, Dior made waves at the Golden Globe Awards with some unforgettable gowns, but this year, the Dior looks worn by Anya Taylor-Joy, Monica Barbaro, Anna Sawai, and Jodie Foster didn’t quite have the same impact.
Timeless Glam with a Gimmicky Touch
Anya Taylor-Joy opted for an archival Dior pale pink silk dress, which was perfectly aligned with her signature old Hollywood glamour. The platinum and 18k yellow gold necklace featuring crystal opals from the 2024 Tiffany Blue Book Collection added a sophisticated touch. However, the shawl felt unnecessary—a bit too much like a gimmicky prop rather than an accessory that didn’t quite land as she hoped. Jimmy Choo Minny sandals rounded off the look.
Beautiful but Familiar
Monica Barbaro also turned heads in a Dior embroidered strapless dress, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of déjà vu. I could have sworn Rachel Zegler had worn this before, but I’m simply recalling Zegler’s love for this vintage grey hue. A Bvlgari High Jewelry necklace in platinum with a carré diamond, diamond stud earrings, and a diamond Serpenti ring completed the look.
The Standout
Anna Sawai took a minimalist approach in Dior, wearing a white leather bustier top with a long white silk skirt, styled with Cartier jewels. This classic Dior look felt fresh and modern, effortlessly balancing sophistication with a youthful edge.
Underwhelming for the Icon
Jodie Foster, known for her refined and powerful red carpet moments, wore a Dior dress that didn’t quite have her usual impact. While beautiful, this particular dress fell flat. This was a missed opportunity, unfortunately.
