Katy Perry is not done with her rocker, bad-girl era just yet. The singer stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, where she dished on everything from leaving American Idol to embark on The Lifetimes Tour, to taking four-year-old Daisy along for the ride (who apparently already has a knack for belting out Peacock), to reminiscing about that time her dad wouldn’t let her go backstage at a Radiohead concert.
Her look for the night? A head-to-toe leather ensemble from AREA’s Fall 2024 collection, proving that her current fashion mood is still all about attitude. The outfit featured a studded strapless leather top and slit-leg trousers.
If the slit trousers felt familiar, that’s because AREA has made them a staple. But with the added grit of distressed leather and silver hardware, the brand’s latest collection leans deeper into an edgier aesthetic.
I’ve been vocal about this new grunge-leaning direction for Katy, and while some of her recent looks have felt a bit forced, this one actually works. The structured top balances out the loose fit of the trousers, and the overall vibe feels more naturally in sync with her larger-than-life persona rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

Vetements studded boots finished off the look, because when you’re committing to a rocker aesthetic, you might as well go all in.
