Viola Davis was celebrated at the Golden Gala: An Evening of Excellence in Beverly Hills on Friday, where she received the Cecil B. DeMille Award. Recognising her courage in portraying complex, powerful characters, this honour highlights her role in breaking barriers and paving new paths in the industry.
For the occasion, Viola wore a Dior pink silk pleated cape-sleeved gown. True to her love of bold hues, the colour was striking and perfectly complemented her radiant makeup, which was beautifully matched to the gown. Viola does look beautiful here. The gown’s shade is undeniably stunning, and her overall presentation is elegant, but I’m not entirely sold on the material or the pleats.
Had this been crafted from chiffon, I would have been more on board with the pleated design. The silk feels a touch heavy for what I wish was a breezier, more ethereal look.
Chopard jewels completed her look.
Viola always brings her signature elegance to the red carpet, and this moment was no exception, but I can’t help imagining how the look might have been elevated with a lighter fabric. What do you think?
