The ladies weren’t the only ones serving looks at the 2025 Critics’ Choice Awards on Friday evening. The men stepped up—some with daring colours and modern tailoring, others keeping it classic but still making an impact. While we had our usual tuxedo rebels and risk-takers, there were also a few surprising choices that deserve a closer look.
Poised in Pink and Owning It
Our favourite classic black tux dodger was back at it, standing out in a custom Brioni suit featuring two shades of pink. The bold, brighter pink top half seamlessly transitioned into pale pink trousers, creating a soft yet statement-making effect.
I’m always on footwear patrol when it comes to menswear in lighter tones, and I was thrilled to see Andrew styling this look with crisp white Louboutins—because nothing kills a great pastel suit like a heavy black shoe. Retrouvaí jewels added a final touch of elegance.

VV la Valentino
Bowen Yang was impossible to miss in his typically bold Valentino Resort 2025 Avant Les Débuts suit, featuring a striking V monogram pattern in navy and cream. The look was elevated further with perfectly coordinated cream Valentino Garavani loafers, proving that statement suiting isn’t just about colour—it’s about confidence.

Swapping Flamboyance for Minimalism
Chris Perfetti took a step back from his usual flamboyance, opting for a minimalist ivory Connor McKnight suit. While some might miss his usual flair, I actually appreciate this change of pace. There’s something refreshing about the crisp tailoring and pared-back approach—it’s giving “effortlessly cool.”

Dialing It Down (But Not Out)
Following his appearance at the AFI Awards, Jeff Goldblum was back on the red carpet, proving that even when he dials down the colour, he still commands attention. This time, the Wicked actor let a geometric embellished Saint Laurent blazer take center stage, pairing it with a skinny leather Prada tie and Tom Ford trousers.
As always, the details were impeccable: a Jacob & Co. timepiece and his signature Jacques Marie Mage glasses brought the whole look together with his usual effortless charm.

Modern Menswear Done Right
Let Josiah Cross serve as your reminder that The Frankie Shop isn’t just for the cool fashion girls—it’s makes waves in menswear, too. His mix of a blue trench, crisp white shirt, and baggy leather trousers was the perfect blend of sophistication and modern edge. It felt fresh, stylish, and completely his own.

Couture With a Personal Touch
Michael Urie brought couture to the menswear red carpet carpet in a Georges Hobeika Spring 2024 Couture look, but he smartly made it his own. Instead of going shirtless with a dramatic cape (as styled on the runway), he opted for a white shirt and black ribbon tie, giving the ensemble a refined, theatrical elegance. It was classic with a bit of flair—just like him.
Styled by Michael Fusco.
From Andrew Scott’s fearless pink suit to Jeff Goldblum’s calculated coolness, the Critics’ Choice Awards proved that menswear is no longer just about the same old tuxedos. Who was your best dressed from this line up?
