Get inspired to RTO in style with a week’s worth of men’s spring business casual outfits, and shop your favorite pieces to add to your work wardrobe.

In my day job, I’m required to commute to a corporate office five days a week. As such, I consider myself to be SG HQ’s preeminent office style expert. I am quite literally reporting live to you from the trenches, you guys — namely, an open layout concept perched on a high floor of one of those very tall buildings in downtown Manhattan.

Here’s what I’ve learned about office style:

While strict business casual dress codes may still demand a full suit minus the tie, business casual — and its slightly breezier cousin “smart casual” — is more flexible than ever in 2025.

But getting dressed for the office five days a week (or three days! or two!) can still feel too heavy on your mental load, I get it.

So we’ve rounded up a week’s worth of business casual office style ideas that might actually get you excited about that “return to work” notice in your inbox.

Personally, I’m planning to print dozens of copies of this guide to navigating business casual workplace dress codes from our office printer and scatter everywhere from the kitchen to the conference room. These men need to know.

I’ll assume that none of you work at my company and, even if you do (Hi Greg?), you could use some style inspiration to break you out of your office wardrobe rut. And if not? Well, consider this your permission slip.

So together, let’s break free from the fleece vest bearing the company logo. Let’s think about layering options, unexpected colors and—gasp—shoes that are far from square-toed.

Get inspired with 7 men’s business casual outfits for spring and shop the looks:

1. Sweater Polo with Penny Loafers

@juliusgod

In 2025, business casual attire thankfully has broken out of the “khaki pants, blue button-up shirt, and a fleece vest” mold.

You get to inject more of your personality into your outfits — yes, even at the office. A look like the one above featuring a quarter zip sweater and dress pants doesn’t even feel that crazy, right? It’s downright conservative…that is, until you get to the jazzy white dress socks peeking out at the ankles. Form, meet function.

2. Sport Coat with your Favorite (Nice) Sneakers

To me, this is what a business casual outfit has meant, and can continue to mean from here until eternity.

A sport coat, paired with a tie and button-down shirt, jeans and casual shoes that still look “nice” like leather sneakers on the bottom. Easy, breezy, done.

If there’s a business casual dress code formula, this is one that always equals out on both sides. A casual look that nevertheless lends an air of formality.

3. Sweater Vest Over a Button-Down

Layering in a trendier item like a sweater vest with an otherwise standard office outfit like grey trousers and a white dress shirt is another great way to do business casual in 2025.

Add coordinating accessories like a leather belt and dress shoes to ground the look firmly in the “office” realm.

4. Chambray Shirt with Chinos

If jeans feel too casual for your office, how about a chambray shirt instead?

Worn with chinos and leather lace-ups, you can introduce denim to the workplace while remaining firmly in the “office appropriate” wardrobe camp.

Still not sure? Wear the shirt under a crewneck sweater instead of an Oxford button-down so just the collar is peeking out.

A crewneck sweater over an OCBD is one of my favorite looks on a guy. Full stop.

Add the suede loafers (again, with white dress socks!), fun silk scarf, and statement topcoat? You’re going to win best-dressed at the office holiday party, for sure.

6. Trousers with a Sleek Puffer Vest

Now this is how you do a vest at the office.

A sweater and dress pants in interesting fabrics and textures are already a flex (PSA: don’t be afraid to break out of from your navy and grey go-to’s!). And I get it, sometimes you just don’t want to wear another one of your button-ups.

From there, add a sleek pair of sneakers and a quiet luxury vest with buttons that looks straight out of Succession? You’ve got a can’t-miss smart casual office outfit.

7. Turtleneck and Trousers

Who needs a shirt with a collar when you have a debonair as hell turtleneck to wear to work?

In most business casual workplaces, you can also skip the blazer or suit jacket in favor of a variety of light jacket options to pair with your wool trousers, from bombers to Harrington jackets and even jean jackets.

If you’re looking to dip into your spring casual wardrobe purchases to double as officewear, outerwear is a great place to start. When it comes to men’s spring business casual outfits, an interesting top layer sets you apart immediately.
