If you’re anything like me, you’ve seen those LED Light Therapy Masks and wondered, Can they really improve my skin? But perhaps, like me, you’ve also been put off by the price.
At the end of last year, I was invited to try the Maysama PRANA LED Light Therapy Mask, and I wanted to give it a solid six weeks of consistent use before sharing my thoughts. So, three times a week, I applied the recommended serum and wore the mask for nine minutes on the setting suited to my main skin concern: closed comedones acne.
I’ve previously had green peels and mesotherapy, both of which worked… temporarily. The issue always crept back after a few months. But with this LED mask—which uses pulsed light technology to help “breathe” skincare ingredients into the skin—I finally feel like I have a tool that calms inflammation and keeps my forehead (aka my problem area) significantly smoother.
The mask has three modes:
- Red Light – Reduces redness, improves skin tone, brightens, and stimulates collagen production.
- Red + Near Infrared – Improves skin texture, boosts circulation, and enhances collagen and elastin production.
- Magenta (Red + Blue) – Targets acne, blemishes, redness, and inflammation while regulating excess oil. (This is the setting I’ve been using.)
One misconception? That the mask heats your face. It doesn’t. The LED light penetrates deeper than the surface, so you don’t actually feel anything. However, Maysama does warn against use if you’re sensitive to light-induced headaches or solar urticaria.
After six weeks, I’ve seen a real difference—and I’m hoping that by summer, with continued use, my results will be even better.
Yes, these masks can be pricey, but the Maysama PRANA LED Light Therapy Mask starts at £295 (£327.75 with the serum)—a worthy investment if you’re looking for long-term skin benefits.
