Mikey Madison has been serving up little pops of colour this awards season, so naturally, I expected her to continue the trend at the Film Independent Spirit Awards—especially since this is the most laidback event on the calendar. But instead, she defaulted to her signature black-and-white aesthetic in a Calvin Klein Collection Fall 2025 dress. And honestly? It was very her.
Designed by Veronica Leoni—Calvin Klein’s first female creative director—the black wool-panelled dress featured a cream cotton underlayer and an open back, blending structure with softness in a way that felt true to both Mikey’s understated style and Leoni’s minimalist pedigree. Having honed her craft at Jil Sander, Phoebe Philo’s Céline, and The Row, Leoni is no stranger to quiet luxury, and this dress embodied that ethos with ease. Clean lines? Check. Muted palette? Double check. Effortlessly chic? Absolutely.
Mikey’s styling stayed true to her less-is-more approach with Tiffany & Co. Tahitian pearl earrings, a Mulberry Lana wallet, and LAPIMA Maria sunglasses, which gave the look an air of cool, downtown nonchalance. It was simple, sleek, and without a trace of the traditional, over-the-top awards season glam.
While I wouldn’t have minded a return to her recent flirtation with colour, there’s something undeniably authentic about Mikey’s commitment to minimalism. Sometimes the most powerful move is sticking to what works.
