Mikey Madison took home the Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award for Anora at the 2025 Critics’ Circle Film Awards, but unfortunately, her red carpet look didn’t win me over.
I want to be excited about Mikey’s style—I really do. I root for any newcomer navigating their first big awards season, hoping for that fashion breakthrough moment. But this Simone Rocha Spring 2025 red satin dress? It’s just not it.
Now, don’t get me wrong—the colour is stunning. The open back? A moment. But everything else? Underwhelming. The fit doesn’t flatter, the design doesn’t excite, and overall, it feels like a missed opportunity. I get that this is a relatively low-key ceremony, but that doesn’t mean we have to settle for a look that feels more “fine” than “fabulous.”
And I’ll be honest—this has me a little worried for the rest of awards season. Will she turn things around, or are we in for a season of meh? Fingers crossed she finds her fashion footing soon.
At least the Tiffany & Co. jewels added a little sparkle because this look definitely needed it.
