Christian Siriano is always one to deliver theatrical, statement-making fashion, and for the 2025 Oscars, he dressed three icons in three very different interpretations of his signature drama. While there were definite high points, not every look was a slam dunk.
Reflecting Perfection
Halle Berry was easily the standout in this custom Christian Siriano gown, which looked like it was pieced together from shards of a shattered mirror. The crystallised beaded mesh design was striking, futuristic, and gave her an undeniable presence on the red carpet. What elevated this even further? Her new retro flip hairstyle, which added an extra dose of glamour, making her look like a modern-day Bond girl who just stepped out of a high-speed chase unscathed.

Water-Inspired Elegance
Whoopi Goldberg isn’t one for big, princess-style gowns, so this custom Christian Siriano liquid water organza creation was a pleasant surprise. The off-the-shoulder silhouette softened the drama of the voluminous fabric, and while it was outside of her usual wheelhouse, it worked. It had a dreamy, almost ethereal quality that felt refreshing for Whoopi, who tends to favour more structured, tailored looks.
Missed the Mark
Queen Latifah’s custom red off-the-shoulder crepe Christian Siriano gown had potential, but unfortunately, the execution fell flat. The stitching between the bodice and the skirt was distractingly bad, and while the draped skirt detail was intentional, it looked more like a last-minute alteration gone wrong. This was a major disappointment.
Three very different looks, but one clear winner—Halle Berry stole the show in her Siriano masterpiece.
