Jenna Ortega doesn’t exactly gravitate toward pastels. While she may not be as exaggeratedly goth as Wednesday Addams, the actor definitely has a real-life penchant for deep shades, often sporting dark ensembles and wearing her hair almost or actually black. For a second, we thought she might be softening up a bit when she showed up at the Vanity Fair Oscars After-Party in a wispy gold gown, a sheer taupe manicure, and a warm, subtly auburn hair color. But it seems that was short-lived.
On Tuesday, March 11, Ortega arrived at a special screening of her new movie, Death of a Unicorn, wearing a strapless, asymmetrical, black David Koma dress. Even if she’d skipped the beauty steps, that dress alone would have left onlookers in awe, but she took her glam-goth look to a truly stunning level with her hair and makeup, the latter of which featured a gorgeous graphic black eyeliner look by Vincent Oquendo.
It seems Jenna Ortega’s hair color has taken a cool turn—literally and figuratively—with a nearly black look. But when we say nearly black, we don’t mean dark brown. When the light hits it just right, you can see that there are super-dark glints of deep garnet, made especially radiant by how straight and reflective Bobby Eliot styled it.

That beautiful black-cherry hue carried over into a manicure by Thuy Nguyen, who gave her softly squared-off nails with a classic yet vampy glossy finish.
