Jenna Ortega Wore Oscar de la Renta To The 'Death Of A Unicorn' SXSW Premiere

Before lighting up the New York screening, Jenna Ortega attended the world premiere of Death Of A Unicorn at the 2025 SXSW Conference and Festival on Saturday. And while I was planning to write about this look yesterday, I got completely sidetracked—because, frankly, her screening look was infinitely better than this Oscar de la Renta Fall 2025 outing.

Just to be clear, the suit itself isn’t the issue. On the runway, this oversized checked number was a glamorous, slouchy-chic dream—when styled and proportioned correctly. But Jenna, unfortunately, got swallowed whole by the fabric. The lower half, in particular, is overwhelming her frame, turning what should be a power move into a “who let me borrow my dad’s suit?” moment.

This, for me, is yet another cautionary tale of rushing to wear a just-debuted runway look before it has had time to be properly tailored to the wearer. Why does this keep happening? Is it the thrill of exclusivity? The pressure to be the first to wear it? Either way, it just doesn’t make sense.

Fashion isn’t one-size-fits-all, and trends aren’t universal. Some people know this—Carey Mulligan, for example, has mastered the art of choosing tailoring that works for her. Jenna, on the other hand, might need a quick refresher on the power of proper fit.
