Landon Barker Is Only Getting Started

Landon Barker is back with a new genre of music for 2025 and a clothing collaboration with Cheap Monday to boot. It’s time to get to know the face behind the viral TikToks a little better.

If you follow Landon Barker online, you might think that the musician is somewhat of an enigma, but 2025 is set to change all that. With new tracks on the way, plus a clothing collaboration with recently relaunched Indie-sleaze favourite, Cheap Monday, you’re going to see a whole lot more of this young Punk-Rock royal—though he might sound a little different than you expected…

“Whether it be an album or an EP, I will be dropping my first project or body of work this year,” says the 21-year-old Californian. “Right now, I’m taking a lot more Pop inspiration into my music than I was in 2023 and 2024, where I was leaning a little bit more towards Rock. Today, I am heading down the path of Pop music.”

Landon’s new influences are evident in a snippet of his upcoming single, “Run”, which he’s been teasing on TikTok. “She’s been a heartthrob/daydream/ since 18/ you better run/ you better run,” he sings, in what is presumably the song’s uber-catchy chorus. Already gathering steam on the app 72 hours after being uploaded, it’s bouncy, summery and shows off his newly honed guitar skills. “I’ve been practicing the guitar a ton and I’m proud of my progress,” he says.

As the only son of blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, Landon has musicianship and style in his genes, not to mention a lifetime of experience in front of the camera with his older half-sister Atiana De La Hoya and younger sister Alabama. Before he was into double digits, he had walked the red carpet at the Grammys, the Billboard Music Awards and countless movie premieres, rocking a new emo-inspired hairstyle with different coloured streaks every time. Of course, he was also accustomed to life on tour, and in the studio, with his dad.

“Growing up around performers, I feel like I’ve always had a natural stage presence, but like everything, practice makes perfect,” says Landon, who opened for blink-182 on several of their One More Time…
tour dates last year, as well as headlining his own shows. “With each show I am becoming more and more confident in my performance. The latest blink-182 tour that I supported was the first time I played guitar with my band for the set, and now it’s part of my normal show. Performing live is my favourite part of the process. Being able to see how the music translates to my fans is everything. Opening for blink-182 is obviously a life-changing experience. I am forever grateful and can’t wait to play those size stages again.”

After collaborating with good friend mgk on his 2022 song “die in california”, from mgk’s Grammy-nominated album Mainstream Sellout, Landon released his debut solo single “Friends With Your Ex” on
DTA Records in 2023. Telling the tale of falling for a friend’s significant other, then dating them when they break up and waiting for the friend to find out, the two-minute track showcases Landon’s talents as both
a versatile vocalist and storyteller. The Pop-Punk earworm features production and drums by his dad, while its accompanying video stars his then-girlfriend, dancer and influencer Charli D’Amelio. A classic young, hot, grungy love story, all band practices and house parties, the video ends in a Bonnie and Clyde-esque getaway when the friend inevitably finds out that Landon is with his ex.

Then came the breakup track, “Over You”, with a flashback-filled video directed by Mod Sun. More melancholy than his previous release, the song showcased Landon’s impressive range, which is further emphasised with his latest move into Pop—a shift that may not entirely surprise his 5.6 million TikTok followers, who have watched him lip sync to The Fray’s “Look After You” more times than we can count.

“I’ve always been a fan of the record and of course of the band too,” he says, when we ask how it became his go-to sound. “It just started clicking online.”

Landon Barker Is Only Getting Started

“Clicking” is an understatement—some fans even started to think the song was one of Landon’s, despite him being just three-years-old when it was released. He found himself partaking in the most wholesome “beef ” on the internet when Steve Schenberg, known as Husband TikTok, began posting his own videos to the song and the two became locked in a back-and-forth battle. They eventually met up in January and posted a video together that’s been viewed 8.7 million times, with the unlikely duo rocking near-matching outfits and jamming out to their favourite track.

In a full-circle moment, Steve is now making videos to Landon’s new song, “Run”.

“Look After You” has become so synonymous with him that influencer Remi Bader dressed in full Landon cosplay—black leather jacket, white T-shirt, dark jeans and darker eyebrows—to bop to the song for her own 2.3 million followers. The comment section immediately knew who she was emulating, with Landon even writing, “Hmmmmmm who could this be”.

This tells you a thing or two about his instantly-recognisable signature style, which has inspired his Cheap Monday collection set for release on March 20th, available at Weekday.com in Europe and ASOS.com in the US.

“Cheap Monday were great partners in the sense that, before even getting to designing, we were able to get to know each other, learn what the limitations were and then create a line of clothes that I am both proud of and would wear myself in my daily life,” says Landon. “My own interests became the main inspiration for the collab and partnership.”

His favourite pieces from the collection are particularly personal. “It’s been a motto I’ve loved and now feel like lives with me, so anything from the collection with the ‘I’m a mess’ wording on it, I absolutely love,” he says.

Also personal are his many tattoos, a staple for any Rockstar—but does he consider how they’re displayed when he gets dressed?

“At this point I feel like I have so many tattoos that trying to dress around them would be impossible,” says Landon. “But I do think about the framing when getting new tattoos. My most recent is a girl holding a rocket on my forearm. [LA-based tattoo artist] Arbel did this one and I’m totally in love with it.”

His growing collection also includes the words “pray for me” in gothic text above his collarbone, various angels and angel wings, and his birth year—2003—on his knuckles.

With his piercing green eyes, model good looks and height—at 6’1” fans were shocked to see him towering over his dad, who is… 5’9—it’s no surprise that Landon has walked the runway for the likes of Vetements, Nahmias and AMIRI. For his musical performances and appearances, he’ll work with a stylist to craft an elevated version of his personal vibe. “I’ve been working with someone pretty consistently for a few years now, but I always put my own twist on things,” he says. “Lately I have been cropping and distressing my own t-shirts and hoodies to make them feel a little bit more ‘me’.”

He has plenty of stylish influences in the family, too; his dad married Kourtney Kardashian in 2022, giving Landon three step-siblings, Mason, Penelope and Reign Disick, with his half-brother Rocky joining the pack in 2023. Then there are his famous step-aunts, Kim and Khloé Kardashian, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Despite appearing on Meet The Barkers as a toddler and The Kardashians in more recent years, he’s not much into watching reality shows. “While I do watch TV and a good number of movies, I don’t really find myself watching much reality TV,” he says. “The last movie I saw was Nosferatu, and I really liked it.”

Perhaps TikTok, where we get to enjoy snippets of his unreleased music in amongst all his Fray videos, is the closest we’ll get to a true Landon reality series—after all, we do occasionally see cameos from his dad, Kourtney and his siblings participating in trends like “Who’s Going To Be The Drunkest” and “Pass The Phone”. He is clearly someone who figured out the app early and has since been able to use it as a tool to share his songs, while still having fun with it. “I feel like it’s clear that Bama and I are the two who understand TikTok best, but it’s always fun when we can get the whole family involved,” he laughs.

Landon does have his sights set on a bigger on-screen career, however; he had a small part in mgk and Sydney Sweeney’s 2021 film Downfalls High, playing a drummer, and would love to fully break into acting. “I’m so, so passionate about this,” he says. “My team and I are looking for ways to break into the space. I’ve grown up taking acting lessons and feel like this is something, through this new year, that I will be getting more into.”

Music, fashion, film: Landon is well on his way to becoming a fully-fledged triple threat. But, having just turned 21 in October, what’s the most important life lesson he’s learned so far? Simple: “Take care of yourself.” Wise words from this rising talent who, we have no doubt, is only getting started.
