Naomie Harris hit the red carpet in London last night for the screening of Black Bag, joining her co-star Cate Blanchett. And while Cate was serving up a sustainable fashion moment, Naomie… well, let’s just say I really wanted to love this look.
We all know she has a new stylist. I was fully on board with the direction at The BRITs—that was a great moment. But the New York premiere look left me unconvinced, and unfortunately, this Danny Reinke Spring 2025 dress isn’t doing much to win me over either.
Reinke’s “Stupid Cupid” collection—beautiful in concept—was inspired by the emotional rollercoaster of unrequited love, drawing from Connie Francis’ 1958 song. And while I’m all for championing emerging designers (Naomie was the one who put Standing Ground on our radar, after all), this just doesn’t hit the mark.
The main issue? The bodice. The construction is really poor. I can picture a struggling Project Runway contestant presenting this to Michael Kors with him delivering the line, “It looks like something you’d wear to an office party in 1982.” And honestly? He’d be right.
Then factor in the decision to style this look with black shoes, and I’m in total confusion about this look.
On the bright side, her hair and makeup are stunning. But overall, it’s just not a good day for my faves.
Stylist: Federica Fanari.
