Taking inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s seminal classic Orlando and its gender-defying protagonist, Dior’s AW25 show at Paris Fashion Week was, once again, one for the books. Luckily, model Rebecca Donaldson took us behind the scenes as she prepared for the big evening in Paris—here’s what went down.
Dior knows how to put on a show. And for its AW25, designer Maria Grazia Chiuri has done it again—taking over Paris by storm, under a blessed sunny sky this time around. As a longstanding admirer of female artists, it was Virginia Woolf who inspired the initial steps of the maison’s new chapter, as Chiuri looked to the literary classic Orlando, as well as a moment to dive deep into the house’s roots and history.

Hi Rebecca! How are you doing?
Hello! I’m very well, thank you. Super happy to be in Paris for the Dior show, it’s one of my favourite cities.
What are your expectations for the show?
Dior always manages to deliver a perfect balance of heritage and innovation so I’m excited to see how they reinterpret the classic Dior designs with a modern twist.
What would you love to see on the runway today?
I’d love to see a fresh take on the classic Dior silhouettes – something that honours the house’s heritage yet pushes creative boundaries. I think Maria Grazia Chiuri does a great job of blending these two.
Tell us about your look – what are you wearing? And why did you pick this outfit?
I’m wearing an asymmetrical design dress in grey wool. I picked this look for the flattering silhouette. I liked the cinched in waist emphasised by it’s belt with the combination of soft draping. It was paired with the chunky black boots, offering a contemporary yet slightly rebellious attitude which I thought was fun.
What’s your favourite thing about dressing in Dior?
Dressing in Dior always makes me feel effortlessly elegant. The timeless designs with a hint of fun gives it that cool girl look yet still sophisticated.
What is your favourite thing about Fashion Week?
The energy of the city during fashion week is unmatched. There’s always so much going on with an incredible buzz around. I don’t think it’s just about the shows that make it so exciting to be in town.
