Ruth Negga made a dramatic return to the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of Apple TV+’s Number One on the Call Sheet, held at TCL Chinese Theatre on Wednesday. And let’s just say, she did not return quietly.
The Irish actress, known for her bold red carpet choices, stepped out in a Prada gold sequin dress adorned with crystal and jade floral embroidery. A stunningly intricate dress shimmered with the kind of futuristic glamour energy that Prada does so well.
But what makes this a dress, when it appears to be a two-piece? The brown leather harness-style belt and loop detail. Yes, that belt. The one from Prada’s Spring 2025 collection that has haunted many a red carpet appearance (see: Sadie Sink’s attempt). Yet, somehow, Ruth makes it work. Is it the way she carries it? The confidence? The pure audacity? I don’t know, but I’m not mad at it.

I’m sold on the unexpected, almost utilitarian edge against the high-shine embellishments. And maybe I’m blinded by the embroidery, or perhaps it’s the brown pumps (instead of the dreaded black that so often accompanies gold), but I find myself… liking this. A lot. And for once, I’m not questioning why, so I’m just going to channel my inner Liam Gallagher and roll with it.
If you’re not sold, maybe celebrity hair stylist Araxi Lindsey’s video might convince you.
