Christina Aguilera is usually the undisputed queen of dark glamour—she’s built a brand around sultry smokey eyes, va-va-voom silhouettes, and that deliciously vampy edge. But at the 2025 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony in Santa Monica on Saturday, she surprised us all with a refreshingly softer take.
Draped in a flowing Dolce & Gabbana chiffon gown with a train cascading from her shoulders, this look was the lightest we’ve seen from Christina in a minute. But make no mistake, she didn’t leave her signature style behind entirely. The lace-up corset detailing—an ever-iconic Dolce & Gabbana flourish—brought that signature Xtina energy front and centre. It was soft, yes, but still smouldering.
Some might say the glam still leaned into her usual dark glamour territory—and sure, the heavy lashes, dark lip and sharp contour didn’t go anywhere—but it actually created the perfect tension between light and dark, romantic and fierce. The result? A look that felt like a “good girl gone bad… but make it fashion” crossover event.
It’s a welcome shift and a reminder that Christina knows how to pivot without losing herself. She gave us softness without sacrificing spice—and I’m totally here for this duality.
