Emily Ratajkowski Is the Latest to Blast Blue Origin’s All-Female Space Flight: ‘End-Time Shit’

Emily Ratajkowski has now joined Olivia Munn, Olivia Wilde, and others in slamming the all-female Blue Origin space flight on April 14. As you may have heard, Lauren Sánchez recently hosted an 11-minute all-women mission to space on fiancé Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin rocket ship, but it’s clear that the event did not turn out to be the win for feminism that its organizers might have hoped it would be.

On TikTok, Ratajkowski called the stunt, in which Katy Perry, Gayle King, and Sánchez were joined by actual NASA scientists Aisha Bowe and Amanda Nguyen, as well as film producer Kerianne Flynn, for an all-female flight into space, “end-time shit.” Ratajkowski began by criticizing the official mission statement, which claimed Sánchez is “honored to lead a team of explorers on a mission that will challenge their perspectives of Earth.”

Emily Ratajkowski said in her TikTok, “The thing that you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s single-handedly destroying the planet.” Ratajkowski is referring to Amazon, Bezos’s flagship company, which has dramatically increased its carbon footprint since making its “Climate Pledge” in 2019, per a study reported in Pacific Environment. Ratajkowski continued, “Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what?” She concluded, “I’m disgusted.”

She’s not the only one. Olivia Munn said on Today With Jenna and Friends, “I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now.… Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?” Munn also noted how expensive this excursion was, especially in light of the fact that many people can’t even afford eggs right now.
