Lizzo made her fabulous return to the 2025 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony red carpet in Santa Monica on Saturday.
Draped in a burgundy Robert Wun Fall 2024 Couture gown, Lizzo delivered drama, glamour, and a touch of something delightfully wicked. I’m sure you recognised the design instantly, as Robert Wun’s signature draping is currently having a major moment, and we’ve seen variations of this same idea across multiple red carpets.
From Sheila Atim’s dress at The Olivier Awards to Cardi B’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party moment, Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s regal BAFTAs look, and Jodie Turner-Smith’s show-stopping MTV EMAs appearance, Wun has been remixing this draped silhouette like a designer DJ.
What do I love about Lizzo’s version? Those fabulous gloves with devilish finger nails—also seen on Jodie. A bold, eerie, theatrical detail that gives this look character.
And speaking of characters… what was on Lizzo’s vision board? Because with that slicked, wet-look hair, exaggerated blushed cheeks, and smoky eye makeup, I’m getting major Ursula-from-The Little Mermaid energy. And I am not mad about it! She’s giving sea witch meets siren couture, and I’m eating it up like a plate of caviar at a Bezos-funded banquet.
Lizzo’s style trajectory continues to rocket sky-high—quirky, playful, and impossibly stylish. She’s clearly found her groove and is fearlessly embracing high-concept fashion without losing an ounce of authenticity. Honestly? It’s everything I’ve ever wanted for her and more.
