Alexander Skarsgård Wore Saint Laurent To The 'Pillion' Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Alexander Skarsgård hit the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Pillion, and – style-wise – things are definitely getting interesting.

Since partnering with celebrity stylist Harry Lambert—who’s responsible for some of the more adventurous style moments from Harry Styles, Emma Corrin, and Josh O’Connor—we’ve seen a clear shift in Alexander’s sartorial direction. And I’m here for it.

Remember the Murderbot premiere where he channelled Conclave-meet-Neo? Or that ‘90s Sergio Tacchini windbreaker suit he wore on The Late Show? There’s experimentation going on, but the through-line is clear: he’s keeping things formal even when he’s pushing the envelope.

Case in point: this Saint Laurent Fall 2025 tuxedo is textbook elegance—until you clock the boots. Yes, those over-the-knee leather boots that went viral when Pedro Pascal wore them. They didn’t quite work on Pedro, mostly due to that slouchy leather-on-leather styling, and sadly, we hit a similar snag here. The boots had slipped a little before Alexander posed for the cameras, and it threw the proportions off.

Had they stayed firmly in place—or even been slightly more structured—I think this could have been a massive win. Still, credit where it’s due: he’s exploring new fashion territory while keeping one foot (literally) grounded in tradition. It’s that in-between space that can be the hardest to master, but it’s also where the most interesting things can happen.

Curious to see where he takes us next.

Stylist: Harry Lambert.
