FKA Twigs attends the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" in Wales Bonner

There was something incredibly poetic about Wales Bonner’s presence at the 2025 Met Gala. The Superfine: Tailoring Black Style theme aligned so naturally with Grace Wales Bonner’s ethos that these bespoke creations felt like love letters — not just to fashion history, but to Black cultural legacy. Blending Afro-Atlantic references with European tailoring and fine craftsmanship, these were some of the most considered looks of the night. Plus, with the brand’s first-ever fine jewellery collection in partnership with SNOW Diamonds debuting on the carpet, this was a milestone moment. We’ve seen Lewis Hamilton, so here is a look at the other standouts.

Harlem Renaissance meets haute couture

FKA Twigs, never one to play it safe, embodied a Josephine Baker dream. Her bespoke Wales Bonner ostrich feather-trimmed gown featuring Lesage-inspired Swarovski embroidery and a sheer silk stole by Lemarié was peak glamour-meets-meaning. The layers of storytelling in this look — from Harlem ballrooms to Parisian ateliers — delivered in a way only she can. Even her crystal-embellished brown satin Manolos felt intentional, grounding the look in old-world elegance with a modern twist. I’m really enjoying this new vintage era for FKA Twigs.

Dandy-Lite

Jeff Goldblum looked good in his Wales Bonner suit with his trademark shearling-collared coat — how could he not? He has that effortless magnetism. But compared to the rich narrative potential of the theme (and what we’ve seen him do during the Wicked press tour and awards season), this felt… safe. The SNOW Diamonds brooch added to the story, but this wasn’t his usual theatrical flair. It’s giving intermission, not final act.

Omar Apollo attends the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style"

It’s All In The Details

Omar Apollo’s bespoke Wales Bonner tailcoat suit stood out with a distinctive twist: a leopard print bib intricately embroidered with beads and Swarovski crystals. It may be a subtle detail, but in a sea of black suits, it delivered maximum impact. He completed the look with Manolo Blahnik Sloanacc boots and gleaming Chopard jewels and watch, the look was sharp, quietly confident — and undeniably cool.
