Kristen Stewart attended the Cannes Film Festival premiere of her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, on Friday evening — and it was everything I hoped for: confident, cool, and unmistakably her.
Wearing custom Chanel white silk leather satin jacket and matching shorts over a sheer silk chiffon shirt—Kristen brought that exact balance of nonchalance and precision that only she can pull off. She may have floated through the photocall in her soft-girl era, but by evening she’d switched gears and came through with that trademark edge, and I loved every second.
This is what makes Kristen such a compelling Chanel ambassador. Where others disappear into the brand’s legacy, she manages to bend it to her will. Bringing out something unexpected and alive in the clothes, which is no small feat when dealing with such a storied house.
I personally preferred the look without the cap, but I can’t deny it added a playful twist. Same with the black tie — some might find it random, but somehow, it definitely worked with charm. And the sock-and-sandals situation? She’s one of the few who can actually make it work for me.
