Andra Day joined Kerry Washington—who went full ladies-who-lunch—and Ciara—serving hood-meets-haute—but you’d be forgiven for thinking these three were headed to entirely different events. Still, all three graced the same red carpet at the 2025 BET Awards, and Andra made sure her moment stood out.
She brought the drama in a Tony Ward Fall 2023 Couture gown that was part velvet, part embellished knit, and entirely unapologetic. The built-in gloves and fluid silhouette were giving full red carpet fantasy from the waist down, while the top half—complete with intentionally placed holes—gave the look a modern, defiant twist.
I know those holes might divide opinion, but I appreciate the boldness. It’s got personality, it’s got edge, and it’s giving exactly what this event calls for.
