Katrina Kaif’s Kay Beauty to Launch at Space NK

Indian mass cosmetics brand Kay Beauty, founded by Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, will launch this summer at Space NK, the retailer’s chief executive Andy Lightfoot revealed on stage at day one of The Business of Beauty Global Forum in Napa Valley, California.

“Just keep it between us and the thousands of people watching online,” Lightfoot joked to executive editor Priya Rao during the forum’s first session, where he spoke alongside Nykaa Beauty CEO Anchit Nayar. Kay Beauty was launched in 2019 by Kaif in partnership with Nykaa Beauty, India’s largest beauty retailer. Space NK is the brand’s first retail partnership outside of India, and the brand will launch there in August, in tandem with Space NK’s store opening in Birmingham, its largest store outside of London.

Lightfoot said the retailer discovered the brand when Space NK chief commercial officer Margaret Mitchell met Nayar in 2022 at The Business of Beauty Global Forum, citing it as an example of the retailer’s differentiating strategy of “hunting” compelling and rare beauty labels.

“Our mentality is to find those brands, wherever they are, and bring them back to the UK,” Lightfoot said, noting that 13 percent of the country’s population come from the Indian subcontinent.

Kay Beauty’s collection spans products for the lips, eyes and complexion, with most prices under 1500 INR ($14 USD).
