Diane Kruger is not only busy promoting her new films, Little Disasters and Amrum, but she’s also having a full-on moment with polka dots—the most unexpected trend of Fall 2025, and one that looks set to rival the season’s reigning obsession with rich shades of brown. In the space of just a few days, I spotted two very different dot-filled looks, each proving that Diane knows how to spin a trend her way.
Little Disasters South International Series Festival Photocall
Diane delivered a picture-perfect moment on the Bay of Cádiz in Spain wearing an Alessandra Rich polka dot dress accented with crystal buttons, a look steeped in the designer’s signature retro charm. But while the dress ticked all the vintage boxes, her styling told a different story. Instead of reaching for a neutral sandal or something “safe,” Diane went off-script with Paris Texas Laila snakeskin sandals. It’s a choice that, on paper, shouldn’t work with polka dots—but somehow it does. The clash feels modern, a little rebellious, and gave the whole look a freshness. With oversized sunglasses and soft waves, she nailed effortless coastal chic.

Amrum Filmfest Hamburg Premiere
For her second outing, Diane doubled down on the dots. This time, she chose a bold Patou Spring 2026 ensemble that felt unapologetically Diane. The one we all know an love. A white oversized blazer splashed with giant black dots and mini skirt in smaller polka dots, created a witty play on scale. Add a sheer lace crop top into the mix, and you’ve got a look that’s equal parts sensual and style-savvy. But once again, I was fascinated by the shoes. Christian Louboutin x Maison Margiela’s Martinloula pumps. Built on the Kate Max, the design features the now-iconic faux-cul heel cap from Margiela’s 2024 Artisanal Collection, with leather subtracted into garlanded strands that expose the shoe’s inner construction. They’re art as much as footwear, and the perfect counterpoint to Diane’s punchy polka dots.
With two distinct takes on the print, Diane is officially making a case for polka dots as the wildcard trend of the season. The question is—are you ready to swap your browns for spots?
