Join Wonderland, as three of the city’s most stylish wreak havoc in Free People’s wardrobe, picking out their dream Summer outfits.

In my corner of the internet, fashion-heads march to the beat of their own whimsical drum: lace and chiffon are in abundance, a soundscape of Mazzy Star and Lana del Rey mellows out my scrolling time, as pastel colour palettes, polka dots, and gingham, floods warm-weathered mood boards. Without a doubt, I typically succumb straight to a serious online window shopping session, and more often than not, Free People’s it-girl-approved clothing is where I find myself. The push and pull of trying too hard, and yet not trying at all, is a skill Free People has mastered the art of – the Philadelphia-founded apparel label’s offering is equal parts sleek and sleazy, which goes down a treat in my books.
Dreaming up outfits itching to be worn on the cobbled streets of Copenhagen – a wardrobe reflecting the sophisticated patois of the Scandi style – I ruminate on billowing bloomer co-ords paired with baker boy caps laden with grommet details (and I’m not even a hat person). Evidently, I’m not the only one dreaming, as Wonderland invited three fashion aficionados – Elsie Matilda, Felicity Dunstan, and Tori Van Bruegel – into the hallowed halls of Free People, to put their stamp on the brand’s latest Summer edit. Elsie Matilda
“I’m basing my whole outfit around this” Elsie laughs, as she twirls around a cowhide key chain on her fingers. The photographer-turned-stylist-turn-influencer blends seamlessly into the Free People vernacular, as her playful style dovetails the bohemian allure of the label’s aesthetic. After playing around with various layering options, “pirate energy”, says Elsie, seems to be her final outcome. With a military-style jacket, Elsie’s outfit pairs an ivory lace slip with grungy detailing, à la Emerson Tote Bag and Norfolk Hip Belt, toeing the line between Free People’s light and dark sides. Felicity Dunstan
Felicity’s favourite colour? “Yellow!” she screams in delight, as she comes across a cardigan washed in butter-yellow yarn. After the typical indecision spent umming and ahhing over different OOTD contenders, she opted against the cardigan, and instead found herself at the feet of a rodeo, so to speak. Ready to attend an overpriced wine bar (probably drinking orange wine, a golden rule of London’s most fashionable), Felicity paired Free People’s Lynden co-ord with a beige baker boy cap, and an array of gold jewellery: indecisiveness 0, Felicity 1!

Tori Van Bruegel
When comfort meets chic, Tori Van Bruegel probably has something to do with it: “I always go for comfortable, baggy pieces” she says, whilst sporting a pair of jorts, paired with a button-up cardigan, and an oversized tote bag “to fit all of my goodies in” – an obvious necessity when taking on the hustle and bustle of London. But what would a good fit be without a playful pop of colour? Peeking through Tori’s jorts, a sliver of red glimmers in the Jona Belt, complemented by the rosy inflections in the Maximilion Charm Necklace.
