Kristen Stewart is one of those rare Chanel ambassadors who injects that irreverent spirit we know and love her for.
At the Deauville American Film Festival photocall for her directorial debut The Chronology of Water, she stepped out in a Chanel Spring 2025 Haute Couture white sequined tweed jacket and skirt. The pastel-toned organza detailing gave it an almost ethereal lightness, and under the French sun, it felt like exactly the right choice.
And yet—I can’t ignore the shoes. You know I try to find the good in Kristen’s Chanel pairings, but these just didn’t land for me. I found myself wishing she had gone with those classic Chanel white shoes with the black toe cap we saw on the runway. I’m not usually a fan of them either, but in this case, they would’ve tied the look together far better. Instead, the footwear dulled my enthusiasm.
Still, Kristen in Chanel will always win me over more often than not. She brings a freshness that makes even a very traditional Chanel silhouette feel undone in the best way.
