The silk pants trend has been something of a slow burn. Earlier this summer, I spotted the luxe, high-shine bottoms here and there on Instagram, but I wouldn’t say there was a full-on craze—until now. With pajama dressing at its peak (think lacy slipdresses and crisp boxer shorts), it’s no surprise that these sleepwear–adjacent pants have finally reached a fever pitch, capturing the hearts of the coolest people on your feed.
Yes, silk pants offer the same comfort as the rest of your PJs, but they’re much dressier than, say, a pair of striped poplin bottoms. As such, many insiders and influencers are trading their go-to denim and tailored trousers for these easy-breezy pull-on bottoms, especially for the transition from summer to fall. (One of my fellow Glamour editors noticed several fellow showgoers in silk pants at Copenhagen Fashion Week in August. It’s really happening!)
Styled with a loose, slouchy sweater or a tailored blazer, silky pants manage to look effortlessly luxurious, despite how easy they are to throw on. The style, which typically boasts a drawstring or elastic waistband and a straight-leg silhouette, isn’t just reserved for balmy summer days. With a flowy, loose fit, there’s plenty of room for tights underneath, should you need additional coverage during the colder months. We’re predicting that these shiny, soft pants will be a staple in your fall capsule wardrobe—and these are the pairs we’re eyeing right now.
The best silk pants, at a glance
If you’re someone who avoids trips to the dry cleaners (same), these washable pants are for you. Made from 100% mulberry silk, they’re just as chic as they are comfortable. Like so many Quince products, they look expensive, but will set you back much less than you might expect—in this case, less than $100. The brand makes some of our very favorite silk sheets, so it’s no wonder this pair is also a bestseller. One reviewer puts it well: “They are so buttery soft, and the fabric drapes beautifully. 10 out of 10!” So go ahead, add a few colors to your cart.
Leset’s tagline, “night in, night out,” is quite fitting for its Barb pants. Featuring high-shine fabric and a roomy silhouette, these bottoms are equally primed for cozy evenings binging a new miniseries as they are for spontaneous nights out on the town. They may be a splurge, especially for something that’s not genuine silk; however, it’s safe to say these season-transcending bottoms will get a lot of mileage. Cost per wear, baby!
Sumptuous, comfortable, versatile—Theory’s black silk pants tick off every box. With a wide elastic waistband, a relaxed silhouette, and ample pockets, they’re the crème de la crème of simple silk pieces. One thing to note: Because the pants have a 29.5-inch inseam, they might be a bit long on petite frames, requiring a trip to the tailor or a good pair of heels.
Paint the town red in these pepper-colored silk charmeuse pants. These mid-rise bottoms have an easy pull-on design—perfect for those mornings when you’re in a rush to get out the door. Rooted in versatility, Donni’s silk bottoms can go from business meetings to post-work drinks in one fell swoop. (They’ll also be a no-brainer once the holidays roll around.)
Chocolate brown has been a prominent color trend for the past year, and it’s only getting more popular this autumn. If you’ve yet to partake, might I suggest Reformation’s satin pants? They’re also available in cream, navy, black, teal, and gold, should one of those better align with your personal style. For a one-and-done fall look, scoop up the matching tank, then throw on an oversized jacket and some flip-flops.
If Donni’s pants are a bit too bright for your fall plans, perhaps J.Crew’s decidedly richer and moodier rouge will strike your fancy. With a slim elastic waist, the trousers can sit on your hips or slightly above, depending on your preferred silhouette. Another bonus is the brand’s inclusive sizing, which spans much further than many other options do. If you’re on the fence about buying them, perhaps the reviews will persuade you: One shopper calls the red color “beautiful” in person, while another raves about the look’s unbeatable comfort. Enough said.
Upon first glance, these Aritzia pants may look like your average work trousers. However, they are much cozier, thanks to the breezy, soft satin fabric. But that’s not to say they aren’t office-appropriate. Featuring a tailored silhouette and front pleats, they have all the makings of your new favorite 9-to-5 bottoms.
Dip your toes into the trend with Uniqlo’s $30 pair, which is available in beige and light gray. Sure, they’re not real silk, but we bet passersby won’t be able to tell; one customer gave the satin bottoms a glowing review, writing, “These are made so well and are such good quality.” Plus, they needn’t be dry cleaned—according to the product description, machine washing on cold will do the trick.
For a foolproof, wear-everywhere look, La Ligne’s navy silk pants deliver in spades. Flowy and incredibly versatile, the pants are suitable not only for the office, but also for a dinner date or drinks with the girls. Team them with a white button-down or a thick sweater for the former, and a ribbed tank top or a paper-thin cardigan for the latter.
Don’t be surprised if you reach for Róhe’s black silk trousers at least once a week. After all, with a comfy drawstring waist and functional side pockets, who wouldn’t want to wear them over and over? A printed sweater or statement jacket is sure to zhuzh up the otherwise simple pants, which fit right in with fall’s thoughtful, minimalist vibe.
There’s something so fresh and fun about this soft “teapot blue” shade, as Madewell dubbed it. Come autumn, Madewell’s high-shine pastel pants will be the perfect foil to your black, brown, and ivory separates. There’s an air of sophistication to the bottoms, making them fit for a variety of occasions, from a business lunch to a weekend dinner at a new hotspot in town. Tuck a neutral-colored blouse into the trousers, then round out the look with ankle boots or ballet flats.
Deep purple populated the fall 2025 runways, spotted at shows like Sergio Hudson, Gucci, and Prabal Gurung. Get ahead of the curve with Dries Van Noten’s dreamy silk pants in the rich, electric hue. They feature a straight-leg, mid-rise silhouette, along with an elastic waist for a feel-good fit. And come on—you know you’re going to get so many compliments on these.
Although these are billed as pajama pants, I’d argue Zara’s striped bottoms are dressy enough to wear outside the house—no one will bat an eye. Styling-wise, up the ante with a coordinating silk top (see: the model’s full outfit), or prioritize comfort by way of a cashmere sweater. Either way, let the chorus of “Where did you get those?” roll in.
Calling all maximalists: Turn your attention to Pucci’s silk pants, which are splashed with one of the fashion house’s signature swirling, psychedelic patterns. Rendered in deep shades of blue, green, and purple, this gem will blend seamlessly with your everyday autumn basics, such as a beige cardigan or a navy long-sleeve tee.
Florals for fall may not be groundbreaking, but they do feel fresh alongside classic autumn motifs like plaid and stripes. Boasting an adjustable drawstring waist, Chan Luu’s mint-and-chocolate silk pants are an excellent between-seasons piece to have in reach. Pair them with a white T-shirt now and a cream turtleneck when the temperatures dip below 60.
