Michelle Obama was in conversation with Tracee Ellis Ross at the Brooklyn Academy of Music to celebrate the launch of her new book, The Look, and the evening gave us a fashion moment worth our admiration.
This appearance marks the first time we’ve seen Loewe Spring 2026 — the debut collection under Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez — worn off the runway.
Considering Michelle’s long history of championing American-based designers, it felt fitting that she chose this collection during a pivotal moment in McCollough and Hernandez’s careers, as they begin a new era at the Spanish house.
The sculptural dress, with its cascade of black, fuchsia, and yellow panels, has an architectural sensibility that sits beautifully within Michelle’s style vocabulary: considered, modern, and never afraid of shape and bold hue.

On the runway, the dress was styled with tights and futuristic eyewear, but Michelle’s styling was equally modern with sleek jersey over-the-knee boots.
What stood out most was how assured the look felt. It’s almost as though this new chapter for the brand aligns seamlessly with her own ongoing style evolution.
A new book, and a new fashion era.
